Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-Inch Sapphire Blue Laptop - 6 Hour Battery Life Reviewed by Buck (Chapel Hill, NC)
Satisfied Rating (8/10)
I got the days when 7 + lbs laptop tired. I managed a lot of research on this little notebook and 3.1 pounds. Compromises were made in every case, but for the price, portability and battery life, you can not beat this deal. My first Acer 1410 has had a problem where the blower fan was complaining loudly, as if he touched something in - I asked for the change and the new unit is very quiet. Amazon has the exchange quickly and painlessly. I have the computer for a couple of weeks ago he was here and now are the pros and cons, as I see them:
Pro
-price/weight/battery life is not (perhaps 6 hours, as previously announced, but I can very easily with the heavy use 4-5)
Perfect for word processing / spreadsheet / internet, but can also ArcGIS, Photoshop, and many other programs without problems (just do not expect any intense play)
-boot-up reasonably fast with Vista Home Premium 32-bit (even if waiting for Windows 7)
Keyboard is ideal for learning something

| Review by Anthony (USA) 2010-02-26 First off, the Nvidia Optimus technology is GENIOUS. Asus is the only brand I know currently utilizing it, but I am sure others will quickly change to it. I changed the default video card to the nvidia 325, and I noticed with only using the nvidia 325 video card, and playing games, battery life is a... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by A. Byrd (DC METRO AREA) 2010-03-09 I bought this for my wife as her own laptop. She surfs the net, does light (picnik) photo editing, and most importantly watches many of her TV shows (Lost, Survivor, Project Runway, Real housewives..) on a laptop. I chose this over a classic netbook because of the video watching. Admittedly I don... Read more reviews | ||
